iPad Overview

  • Home + Sleep/Wake   
    • Screenshot - press & release the wake/sleep and home buttons. Image save to camera roll.
    • Soft Reset - press & hold the wake/sleep and home buttons until the apple logo appears (about 10 seconds)     
  • Multi-touch gestures   
    • Tap
    • Double Tap
    • Swipe
    • Pinch/Unpinch

      • pinch with 4 or 5 fingers  => return to home screen
      • swipe up with 4-5 fingers => show multitasking bar

Scavenger Hunt 

Activity: Scavenger Hunt

  1. Mute your iPad's volume.
  2. Lock your iPad's rotation.
  3. Open the Safari app & use the Home button to return to the Home screen
  4. Search your iPad for "Maps", open the Maps app, and use a multi-tasking gesture to return to the home screen.
  5. Create a folder for all of the Photography Apps (Camera, Photos, and Photobooth) and move the folder to a different screen.
  6. Put an app on the dock.
  7. Toggle your iPad's wifi off/on.
  8. Close all of the open apps. 
  9. Ask Siri what the for a list of the closest restaurants.
  10. Soft reset of your iPad and turn it back on.

  6. Add text, checkbox, photo, audio, document to your note.
  7. Annotate the photo.

  • Typing
    • Keyboard shortcuts
      • Special characters (e.g., é, å) - hold down the corresponding character
      • Type two spaces to create a period and space
      • In mail, hold down the period key to get common email endings like .com
      • In Safari, there is a .com in the keyboard. Hold down .com to get other common endings
      • Usually can skip the apostrophe in contractions. Auto-correct will add it.
      • If auto-correct word suggestion is word you are typing, can hit space to finish word
      • Click the .?123 & slide to a key to quickly select a key and switch back to ABC view.
